Meet the Governors

  • Lucie Mitchell

    Chair of Governors

    l.mitchell@hemingbrough.n-yorks.sch.uk

I retired to Hemingbrough in 2023 having been a teacher and Headteacher in Gloucestershire. I have had over 15 years of governor experience in both Primary and Secondary Schools.

As a member of the Governing Board, I will use my experience to help make sure that we have the best school for our children. I love coming into Hemingbrough School to teach (as a supply teacher) and to lead the Gardening Club.

I have 3 grown up children and one granddaughter. In my spare time I enjoy knitting (including decorating the post boxes in the village); sewing; walking my Collie dog and riding my horse.

  • Kelly Brackley

    Parent Governor, Vice Chair

    k.brackley@hemingbrough.n-yorks.sch.uk

I have been a parent governor since October 2021. I volunteered my services as a mum of two young children and one who attends the school. I wanted to give something back, whilst I could. I run a US immigration law business after spending many years in Chicago working as an immigration lawyer. I felt my professional skills and experience as a business owner could be valuable to the governing board.

In my spare time I enjoy running and yoga, as well as spending time with my family and friends.

  • Amy Chambers

    Co-opted Governor

As a HR Business Partner for a national charity supporting people with learning disabilities and mental health needs, I bring experience in people management, inclusivity and strategic development.

In my role as a governor I am committed to using my knowledge to support the schools vision, promote a positive and inclusive environment and help create opportunity for pupils to achieve their potential. I am keen to work with the school community and contribute to it’s ongoing success.

  • Kelly Crowther-Riley

    Parent Governor

  • Jacqueline Gutierrez

    Co-opted Governor

    j.gutierrez@hemingbrough.n-york.sch.uk

I have been a Hemingbrough school parent for just over 4 years, my son is lucky enough to be on his school journey here at Hemingbrough.

As a finance manager with many years experience, I look forward to bringing another perspective to the Governing Body, I am keen to help make a positive difference and to be able to give something back to the school and community.

  • Elizabeth Powell

    Staff Governor

  • Stephen Sedman

    Co-opted Governor

    s.sedman@hemingbrough.n-yorks.sch.uk

Having lived next to the school for over two decades and being a pupil until 2011, I decided to bring my professional skills to the governing body to continue my connection to the village I am proud to have grown up in.

My role leading a team within Financial Operations accompanied by my ongoing volunteering position as Chairman of Selby District Scouts means I can bring good communication, strategy, financial and decision-making skills to the table and another perspective to arising discussions.

  • Helen Taylor

    Assistant Headteacher - Associate Governor
